This quarter the plan for 888 of Prof. Shen is to go through some selected topics about pattern recognition and machine learning, including

  • Introduction to pattern recognition
  • Probability Distributions
  • Linear Models for Regression
  • Linear Models for Classification
  • Kernel Methods

Machine learning and statistical inference will play an important role in data analysis and visualization. If you did not have this course before, the purpose of this 888 is to gain some understanding in this field.

The class meeting will be at 2:30-4:00 every Friday. The place is DL 698.
